Stage 1

The 350Z arrived at our Customs Shop yesterday, the team loves new projects. As you know there are already 2 other 350Zs in the shop. The one is currently Otto’s Z and the other one is being built for the 2011 season. This 350Z already has a driver; Ronnie Graven will trade in his R33 Skyline for this car. The first order of business is to strip the car down. Will keep you posted on the cars progress.

Stage 2

The team has been pushing the boundaries; the progress on the 350Z’s is phenomenal. Ronnie’s Z has been totally stripped, roll cage, bars and valance are in. The car is going down to the Panel shop later this afternoon for some paint work.

Stage 3

Speedy is currently basking in the Cape Town sun, meanwhile back at the Customs Shop, Ronnie’s car has come back safely from our Panel Shop where it got the exact same paint job as Otto’s 2011 competition car. It is getting a bit confusing now, and I have to identify the two by their engines (The only way I can tell them apart).

However our ‘canics’ don’t seem to have this problem as they continue to work at a fast pace, it’s all hands on deck. There is some pressure, no wait, not some, ALOT on the team to get Ronnie’s car onto the MMR transporter as it will be used next week-end at the SUPA drift series being held at Kyalami. You will see two identical Nissan 350Z’s, and of course 2 of our legendary R33 Skylines on the Kyalami circuit.

Stage 4

That’s a wrap, as the team agreed the car was complete and ready for a test drive. We made it just in time as it was already Thursday night, and the cars were destined for Johannesburg at around 10:00pm that night. You could say that we were cutting a fine line, but revelled in the moment either way, if we learnt anything from this project, it was that if you put your mind to something and dedicate yourself to it – the impossible becomes possible!

The car and it’s driver made it to Kyalami on the Friday afternoon as soon as we finished with the dyno at No Sweat Racing. Ronnie loves the car and it didn’t take him long to get the feel & bond between them out of the way. The car had no problems; Ronnie qualified in the top 8, but lost his chance at the podium when he put two wheels of the track during a tandem run.

We want to thank Steve & his Team from No Sweat Racing, these guys always come through for the drifters!
